Understanding the word of God in scripture is central to our Faith at FPCW. In order to facilitate knowledge and “the experience of God’s word” in the bible, we offer three dynamic and fulfilling opportunities for adults to study the bible. Our bible study groups meet in the church library between September and June at 10:00 a.m. and 7:15 p.m. on Wednesdays, and on the second Sunday of each month at 9:00 a.m., before our 10:15 am worship service. All are welcome! There are no prerequisites or preliminary training in bible study required. Our bible studies, which are all led by our Pastor, are designed so that we understand the text as it is written, its context, and what the text means for our lives as Christians. All three bible studies are different and as many as 40 adults are actively involved the various bible studies at FPCW. Those who attend not only engage in understanding and knowledge of the bible, but share and learn about their own spirituality in a safe and intimate setting. In addition to our own going bibles studies, Pastor Don provides Adult Education at various times throughout the church year on various subjects. In the past, Adults have been offered one or two part courses on “Our Jewish Roots,” which explored the importance of Jewish thought and traditions for today’s Christians. “The Green Gospel” explored our calling to become better stewards of God’s creation in scripture and in practice. During this past Lenten season, adults attended an exploration of “The Presence of Satan in Scripture” which included snippets from the movie “Amadeus” for illustration purposes. Adult Education at FPCW is enlightening, exciting and help us Grow in Faith and Discipleship for Jesus Christ. |
