Please join us for this unique adult education program. Mr. Don Kiddoo will present stories of individuals and families of Hanover Township that were in various ways involved with the American Revolution.
The title word “Parables” refers to the fact that many of these stories and vignettes were passed down through an oral tradition primarily through the Kitchel, Flat and Tuttle families circa 1750-1854. A light breakfast will be served for guests.

More Than Twenty Programs in the Greater Morristown Vicinity
Morristown, NJ –On Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 16, 17 and 18, 2010,
historic and cultural sites in the greater Morristown, New Jersey vicinity
will present a weekend of American Revolution-related programs. More than
twenty programs are on the calendar of events. Details for the following
programs include:
Friday, April 16th
Naturalization Ceremony – 1 p.m. at Washington’s Headquarters Museum, 30
Washington Place, Morristown. Welcome new American citizens as they
take the oath of allegiance to the United States. The Martha
Washington Tea and Reception follows the ceremony. Both events are
open to the public at no charge.
Heritage Gala Honoring New Jersey’s Historian John T. Cunningham – 6:30
p.m. at the Westin Governor Morris Hotel, Whippany Road, Morristown.

Saturday, April 17th
Breakfast with General Washington – 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at
Grasshopper Off The Green, 41 Morris Street, Morristown. Enjoy a
buffet-style meal with General George Washington, as portrayed by

General Washington Arrives on the Morristown Green – Noon to 12:30 p.m.
(pre-event music begins at 11:30 a.m.) Welcome General Washington
back to Morristown, Military Capital of the Revolution! Expect to
see and hear a town-crier, fife and drum corps, bagpipe music and
remarks by the General. All activities are open to the public at no
charge. After the program, enjoy lunch and shopping at nearby
restaurants and stores.
Jockey Hollow Continental Army Encampment – 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the
Wick Farm near the Jockey Hollow Visitor Center. Repeats on Sunday,
April 18th. Demonstrations and events are presented throughout the
day, including special “recruitment drills” for children. General
Washington will inspect the troops at 2 p.m. All events are open to
the public at no charge.
A Day in the Life of the Livingstons: 1780 – 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the
Livingston-Benedict House, 25 Old Parsippany Road, Parsippany.
Repeats on Sunday, April 18th. William Livingston was the first
elected Governor of New Jersey and this Parsippany house served as
his and his family’s wartime refuge. Visit the open house with
displays and activities on the grounds. All events are open to the
public at no charge; donations are accepted.

Special Showing of Morristown: Where America Survived – 1:30 p.m. to
2:30 p.m. at the Bickford Theater – Morris Museum, 6 Normandy Heights
Road, Morristown. Join Emmy award-winning New Jersey Network
producer Robert Szuter for a conversation and special showing of his
new NJN program. Light refreshments will be served. The showing is
open to the public at no charge. Regular museum admissions fee apply
if visiting the Morris Museum after the program.
Living in Period Style: Curator’s Tour of Fine Furniture 1750 – 1790 –
1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Macculloch Hall Historical Museum, 45
Macculloch Avenue, Morristown. Join Curator Ryan Hyman for a special
tour focusing on the furnishings and decorative arts from the period.
Advance tickets are required; call 973-538-2404. Museum admission
fees are $6 for adults; $5 for students and seniors; members are
free.
To help promote the importance of Morristown and New Jersey to the
American
Revolution, all of the special events will be held at sites within the
Crossroads of the American Revolution National Heritage Area. More than a
