Since 1949, Presbyterians have joined with millions of other Christians through One Great Hour of Sharing to share God’s love with people experiencing need. For the members of the First Presbyterian Church of Whippany, the One Great Hour of Sharing has been part of our tradition also.

Your support makes a tremendous difference to people around the world who are experiencing need. Many have been thrust into that experience by sudden catastrophe-war, flood, fire-while others have gotten so familiar with need they can’t imagine a world of plenty. The ministries of One Great Hour of Sharing help to support Presbyterian Disaster Assistance, Self-Development of People, and the Presbyterian Hunger Program. All of these programs provide a range of responses that quickly address the most immediate and urgent needs while working patiently, in partnership with those in need, to address the underlying causes of chronic problems.

Our theme this year is “Feed my sheep".  Jesus said, "Do you love me? ... Feed my sheep." (John 21:16-27). Recognizing that the hope we have in Christ is lived out in our hope for one another, we respond with gifts that help our sisters and brothers around the world find the hope for a brighter future.

Over the next couple of weeks you will receive additional communication around the importance of this mission. This year we are looking to raise over $4,000 - an achievable goal given the generosity of First Presbyterian Church of Whippany. Our campaign will begin on March 14, 2010 with donations collected through the Sunday after Easter, April 11.We urge each of you to carefully consider giving to this worthwhile mission.
